LITTLEBANK
Named after Rex Little
The first intermediate mainline station on the Stonnington Valley Railway is Littlebank. The station building is based on the former building at Gheringhap in south-western Victoria, and a photo of the building is featured on the homepage of Gheringhap Loop Train Sightings.
The station has a medium-sized island platform, a fuel siding, several smaller industries and a quarry for the loading of stone trains. Littlebank is also unique for being the only mainline station to not have any rotary switches to control its cab selection, with the cab for the mainline section being selected by St. John or Morehouse.
The up end of the yard passes over the loop in Kens Crossing on a bridge, with a crossover beyond the end of the yard. This crossover is not used in timetable sessions, but when used in conjuction with the 'Continuous' crossover near Armstrong it creates an extra passing loop to cross trains travelling between Littlebank and Armstrong.
